Taylor Wyse
Memorial website in the memory of your loved one

This memorial website was created in memory of my brother, Taylor who was born in Guelph, Ontario on April 9, 1985 and became an angel on July 31, 2005 at the age of 20.  We will remember him forever.

When your parent dies,
You've lost your past.
When your child dies,
you've lost your future.

When Taylor passed away, our family made the choice to allow Taylor to become a tissue donor, in the hope that, through this tragedy, he could help others.

I was contacted by the Trillium Gift of Life Network and they let me know the results of some transplants that have taken place.

Two people have received the gift of sight due to Taylor's donation. A young woman, who was blind, now can see and will live a more full life as a result of Taylor' gift. Also an infant who was blind from birth will now grow up able to see the world around her due to Taylor and his gift of sight.

Taylor's bone has been transplanted into 3 people who required surgeries to their knees. These recipients will now have full use of their legs and can walk without pain due to Taylor's gift.

Another patient who suffered from cancer of the bone has been provided a better and longer life because of the transplant made possible by Taylor.

A patient who required hip replacement now enjoys complete mobility and is pain free.

Another patient who required shoulder surgery now has complete use of his arm and he too is pain free due to Taylor's gift.

These recipients only represent 1/4 of the transplants that have taken place. The remainder of the transplants will be similar to these that have already taken place. Taylor truly is a hero to these grateful recipients and to those who work in the transplant community.

Taylor impacted countless people in many positive ways during his short life.  Taylor was a wonderful brother, son, grandson, nephew and cousin...He was also a great friend to many. Taylor touched many lives and could make friends with anyone.There isn't a day that passes that Taylor is not thought about or missed. Almost every day we shed tears of sorrow and sadness, but we do have those days, where we can look into the heavens and realize that our lives are a bit better because we were touched by Taylor and his love. I hope I can reach out and touch as many people in my lifetime, as Taylor did in his mere twenty years.

In the 10 months before Taylor passed away, he had gotten very close to Allison and I. We were not only siblings, but we had finally become friends. Taylor loved to bring Allison and I along when he went shopping. He said he needed our help to pick out clothes, because he wasn't sure what went together, and what looked good on him. He thought we had a great sense of style and loved what we picked out. I cherish a necklace that Taylor bought on his last shopping trip with us...it reminds me so much of him!

Taylor had a great love of animals and adopted his dog, Raven, from the Toronto Humane society in January of 2004. Raven was like a child to Taylor. He spoiled him rotten! Raven even knew Taylor by the name of DADDY. If you told Raven "Go find your daddy" he would search the house until he could find Taylor. Taylor often said Raven saved his life, and I believe he did. Thanks to Raven we had an extra one and a half years with Taylor.
UPDATE (May 4,2009): Raven passed away in early 2009. It comforts me knowing that Raven and Taylor are finally together again. Thank you so much to Darcy and his family for taking such good care of Raven!

In May of 2005, Taylor stood up for our cousin Brandon as a sponsor at his Confirmation. Taylor was so happy that Brandon asked him to be his sponsor, he was so proud that Brandon had chosen him! He couldn't stop smiling for weeks before and weeks after!

We lost Taylor in the early morning of July 31st, 2005. It was a shock to all of us. He seemed like such a happy, well adjusted young man. I now get through each day by remembering the good times, his warm smile and his charismatic laugh. Taylor will never be forgotten. I know the memories we all have will live on forever in the hearts of everyone he loved and touched.

Taylor is survived by his dad Bruce, mom Rhonda and twin sisters Quinn and Allison. Aunts Tracey, Lorie, Joann and Jan, uncles, Clayton, Bryon, and Tim, cousins Brandon, Catherine, Shelby, Ryerson, Cole, Madison, Clint, Antonella, Scott, Aurora, Tanya, Jessica and Drew and friends too numerous to name!

Taylor was pre-deceased by Grandpa Wyse (1992), Grandpa Gervais (1992), Grandma Wyse (1996), Aunty Debbie (1999), Cousin Blake (2003) and Uncle Ricky (2004). In October 2009 Taylor was joined in Heaven by Grandma Gervais.

The Broken Chain

We didn't know that night
that God would call your name.
In life we loved you dearly,
in death we do the same.

It broke our hearts to lose you Taylor,
you did not go alone;
for part of us went with you,
the day God called you home.

You left us wonderful memories,
your love is still our guide;
and though we cannot see you,
you are always by our side.

Our family chain is broken,
and nothing seems the same;
but as God calls us one by one,
the chain will link again!

God sent a child from heaven to make us laugh and smile,
But he was only with us for such a little while.
Taylor seemed so very happy, so full of life and pride,
Now we will never know the feelings he kept hidden deep inside.
For one day God came and took him, and carried him away,
To be with Him in heaven, oh Lord we only pray,
That Taylor knew how proud we were, how much we loved him so,
Now he is heavens child. Yes in my heart I know.
He's smiling down upon us, and prays we understand,
He's reaching down with angel wings, to gently hold our hands.
Taylor whispers that he loved us,
as his halo glows so bright,

Now a new star up in heaven will shine on us tonight!
